Terms of service.
Confidentiality and privacy
When working with you, I am bound by the ethics and laws regarding your personal privacy and data usage and take this very seriously. I will not divulge information to any third party without your consent. I am registered with the UK Government’s Information Commissioner’s Office. It is especially important for you to be secure about your data protection if doing a Paperwork Sort. By agreeing to a contract with Sorted with Sara, you agree your personal information and details will be securely held and that I will only use them in connection with the services carried out.
Photos and videos: From time to time it is helpful to take before, during and after photos or videos, as it helps document progress and your achievement with sorting. I will only share these on social media or on this website with your permission, and will not tag or reveal your identity unless agreed.
Hours, fees and working times
Prior to working with you, we would always have a consultation (a video call or in-home) to determine how many sort sessions are required for your needs. As every situation is unique, and the pace of a sort is led by you as the client. The number of hours needed is not an exact science and I’ll work with you and your budget as we progress on your sorting journey. It’s worth noting that some clients book a session once a week or once a month to have a committed time to sort through a space or collection which can also work well.
In general I recommend scheduling three hour sorting sessions - as sorts can be both physically and mentally challenging. Those three hours can be in the morning (9:00 to 12:00), the afternoon (13:00 to 16:00) or the if needed I can also accommodate evening sessions (18:00 to 21:00). I do work on the weekends as well and some bank holidays which are often great times for clients to get sorting. If I am not booked and we agree to carry on with more time, we can extend a session to up to 6 hours.
My fees for 2025 are £65 per hour to be paid on invoice by bank transfer or cash in advance (unless otherwise agreed). I am not registered for VAT and work as a sole trader.
Interest will be charged on late payments (at 8% over the Bank of England base rate) and compensation for debt recovery costs under Late Payment legislation.
A typical 3 hour sort includes:
The set-up: 5-10 minutes to orientate ourselves in your space, agree on the tasks for the session, and most importantly what you would like to achieve for the day.
The sort: Ideally we will work together for the entire time, but I can also carry on with some tasks if you need to do other things in-between. The process generally starts with gathering up all the elements for the sort into one area (a staging area). We then go through all the items and sort them into categories, decluttering and discarding rubbish and organising along the way. During this stage, I find that about half way, its good to have a cup of tea and just check-in that its all going well and you and I are feeling that the process is working well.
Next steps: We use the last 10-15 minutes of the session to make sure the staging space is cleared up and not left in an overwhelming state for you to live with. This may include organising to removing some of the decluttered items (see further down), finding and purchasing some organisational containers or tools, and chatting through some of the steps you could carry on with in between paid for sessions.
Travel and parking costs - My hourly fee covers travel within a 45 minute radius from W3, but not parking costs or ULEZ or Congestion charges which would be added to the invoice. Travel to other counties or towns would be charged for.
Organisational products
I do not recommend buying any organisational items until we are well into your sort. Often you will have containers, bins, files and boxes we can use and repurpose for a space already to hand.
As part of my service, I do offer a buying service to measure, source, buy, install and label products to complete your sort. I charge a shopping fee and all items are charged at the retail selling price and delivered where possible to your home or office. I am happy to install and assemble most items, however bigger storage furniture items may require the services of a trade person. Once a product has been assembled, it cannot be returned.
Labelling costs vary depending on what kind of labels you’d like to order. I have a basic labelling machine and the cost of the label cartridges used would be charged to you - or you may have your own we can use.
Removal of decluttered items
In our initial consultation, I will ask you to consider where or how you’d like to donate or recycle or even re-sell your items. I do not offer a reselling or removal service but do have a car, and could drop off some bags at your local charity shop for a small fee. Any items disposed of are totally at your discretion and responsibility, even if I make the suggestion to declutter it - the decision at all times remains with you.
For paperwork, I recommend investing in a small home shredder or the services of a shredding company when discarding old personal documents, or ensuring that your personal details are redacted with a stamp.
This is a very important part of the sorting process, and I do recommend that you organise the removal of items as soon as you can after a sort. I am happy to share my contacts and trusted recommended services at no charge so you can make this happen. With any third party services, I am unable to accept any responsibility or liability should those services result in consequential loss or damages.
Cleaning
I do not offer cleaning services - which is quite different to sorting. Sorting does reveal dust, cobwebs and dirt and having some basic cleaning cloths, an all purpose cleaner and a hand vacuum on hand is helpful before organised items are replaced in spaces. You may want to consider employing a professional cleaning service post large sort sessions as well.
Insurance
Whilst working in your home or office, I will take every care to make sure there is no damage to your possessions. However, Sorted with Sara cannot be held liable for any direct or consequential loss or damage, so do make sure your household insurance is in place for your possessions. I do hold Public Liability and Professional indemnity insurance with Westminster Insurance.
